What is Charity Checkout?

Charity Checkout is a payments processing service that processes all donations made via theBigGive.org.uk. Charity Checkout is an award-winning social business and leader in online fundraising. I already use Charity Checkout, do I need to re-register my bank details?

Yes, even if you already use Charity Checkout for other aspects of your fundraising, you will need to re-register your bank details in order for them to pay out donations made to you via theBigGive.org.uk. You can do this by logging in to your Big Give account.

I have previously registered my bank details with the Big Give’s old payments processor, Charities Trust. Will they transfer automatically?

No, you will need to re-register your bank details with Charity Checkout in order to receive donations made via theBigGive.org.uk. You can do this by logging in to your Big Give account.

How long will it take to verify my bank details and start receiving donations?

Once you have registered your bank details it will take up to five working days to verify your account before you can start receiving donations.

Will there be a change to the fee?

No, there will be no change to the fee which will remain at 4% on all donations made via theBigGive.org.uk and on Gift Aid claimed. Read more about our fees.

Will there be any changes to the donation process?

We will be making improvements to the donation process to make it a better experience for your supporters, for example, using social media logins so that donors can complete their personal details more easily. More details will be available in due course. We want the process to be as easy and secure as possible for donors, so we’ll be testing and monitoring any changes we make.

What will the reference on our bank statement be?

Charity Checkout.

How long will Charity Checkout take to pay out donations made via thebiggive.org.uk?

Charity Checkout does a monthly payout of donations received via theBigGive.org.uk on the 20th of each month (or the nearest working day thereafter) for any donations made during the month prior. Depending on when in the month donations are made, it can take up to 4-6 weeks for them to be paid out.

Will Charity Checkout process Gift Aid?

Yes. Charity Checkout is an approved HMRC Gift Aid Agent and will process Gift Aid claimed on donations made via theBigGive.org.uk. Any Gift Aid claimed and paid out will be subject to the same 4% processing fee as online donations. Charity Checkout reclaims Gift Aid on the 20th of each month (or the nearest working day thereafter) for any donations made during the month prior. The Gift Aid is paid directly to your charity by HMRC, including any interest owed.

How can I reconcile payments into my bank account with donations/Gift Aid received?

You will have a Charity Checkout account which you can log in to in order to view both a donations report showing donations made on theBigGive.org.uk and a payout report showing the payment of these funds to your charity by Charity Checkout.

Will I still be able to access historic donation data in my Big Give account area?

Yes, you will still be able to access historic donation data by logging in to your Big Give account area.
