Using The Big Give

How to use The Big Give

The Big Give helps donors find charity projects in their field of interest. The following steps are a suggested way to make the most of your giving.

  1. Search
On The Big Give homepage, select the amount you wish to give, the charity sector and geographical location you are interested in, and which groups you wish to benefit.
  2. Review
A list of potential projects is automatically generated. Review the title and "Big Idea" of each project as you scroll down the page. You can add favourite projects to your shortlist by clicking the "+ Short List" button.
  3. Details
Click on an interesting project to view more details. Once you have read this overview of the project, you can find out more about the charity on The Big Give profile page or contact the project fundraiser directly.
  4. Due Diligence
The charity profile includes a mission statement and links to the charity's most recent accounts (follow the Charity Commission icon).
  5. Further Research
There are a number of philanthropy resources available online. The resources area on The Big Give provides links to philanthropy advisors, online research tools and tax advice for giving.
  6. Feedback
Please let us know if you have successfully used The Big Give to find a project. We will be creating case studies to encourage future donations, and this will bring additional exposure for your charity. Donor anonymity will be respected at all times.

Charities on The Big Give

All UK regulated charities can register and post projects on The Big Give. We advise donors to carry our their own due diligence before approaching a charity. Links are provided to the Charity Commission or OSCR (the Scottish regulator) on each charity's information page.

Each charity writes and manages their own entries on The Big Give. It is the charity's responsibility to ensure that the project description is a fair representation, and we highly recommend that donors talk to the charity and/or philanthropy advisors before investing.
