Over the past 50 years The Rose Road Association has worked with many hundreds of young people like Chris from across Hampshire and the south of England. The young people who attend Rose Road have complex and multiple disabilities, and require specialist care and a range of equipment and facilities. Every young person who we see is very special and has their own unique challenges in life. The Change My Life Appeal gives you the opportunity to help these young people overcome their challenges and
This would allow us to have someone working constantly on the issues surrounding our charity. It would give us the scope to grow the charity, advertise, fundraise more efficiently and most of all, help save the lives of tiny babies more quickly.
Our true wish for Special Care Baby is to have Angela Brown employed on a full time basis as she has devoted 6 months at zero income because the charity is so close to her own heart.
Nexus music school owns and maintains a former Victorian cinema as our training and performance space in Coventry. We regularly open this building to the public for our student concert series, and for building hire to local groups.
We currently do not have hot water to the taps in our toilets. We require this because it's a legal requirment and will improve our facilities. If you are interested in finding out more about this wish (or a number of others) please do get in touch. Thank you!
The Me2 Club plans to recruit a second member of staff and, as the demand for the charity continues to grow, so the need for it to find a base becomes more important. Funding is sought to enable the Me2 Club to move into a Wokingham based property for a number of years, offering it a strong community presence from which it can support more children with additional needs, recruit the required number of volunteers but also work to raise the additional funds needed for long term sustainability.
If this funding is secured, it would enable the ICT to provide support on child labour prevention for 10 years to over 2000 children around tribal communities of Srivilliputhur. Currently the programme offers training in life skills, personal development, work based integration and computer software packages, as well as web design and desktop publishing.
Many remote schools and clinics in Zambia do not have access to clean, safe water. Besides walking great distances the communities have to draw water from crocodile infested rivers.
We aim to build bore holes in areas where there are no big organisations operating. Once funding is in place we have a team of trusted volunteers on the ground, who act prompyly and efficiently. Each bore hole including pump costs £3200. NO adminstration or personal fees will be deducted.
CAPT is not able to reach its full potential, without having a paid member of staff to put its aims into action. The primary aim is education, and the Project Officer would be responsible for developing and facilitating a workable strategy, to include a programme of school talks aimed at young people aged between 13 and 16, to complement national curriculum criteria and PSHE. The role would also include co-ordinating CAPT's team of volunteer school speakers.
In February 2008 the Arts Council cut our core funding. There was a reality of closure, which would have meant the loss of one of only two dedicated puppet theatres in England, and the loss of truely unique local resource to Norwich and Norfolk.
One year of funding has been secured with 1st April 2009 as the next crisis date.
A pledge for core funding the next two years - £150,000 would do - would keep the Theatre open and enable exciting plans for the future to come to life!
Since we were established in 2000 we have helped thousands of people and we are seeing the results - healthier families, access to medical treatment, children regularly attending school and families securing an income.
We have low-overheads but if we had a commitment of support for our core costs it would enable us to maintain (and expand where needed) our direct support and services to those living with HIV and AIDS in impoverished communities in South Africa.
Each year we spend an immense amount of time accessing and bidding for grant support. In addition there is always the threat that the current council contract will be withdrawn to reduce revenue strain. Quite often grant funders will only support for 1 year for whatever the purpose of the grant is for makes it very difficult to plan for the future.
