When does the challenge begin?
The challenge will begin at 10am on Monday 7th December. Subsequent funds will then be released at 10am every day that week.
How do I make a donation?
Use the search facility on the homepage to find a charity or project which interests you. Click on the 'donate online' button on the charity's page and enter your details, remembering to add Gift Aid if you are eligible. If your donation is successful you will receive a confimation email from The Big Give. If you don't receive this email, please check your spam folder.
Is there a maximum amount I can donate?
There is no maximum donation amount but please note that only the first £5,000 donated to each charity will be matched.
Can I donate to more than one charity?
Yes
When will the Christmas Matching Challenge finish?
The last day that funds will be released is 11th December, however if there are funds still remaining they will be available until 31st December.
The 'Double Your Donation' button will be removed from a charity's page as soon as the charity has reached its target. The standard 'donate online' facilities (without matched funding) will remain.
How will I know if matched funding is no longer available?
When you go to make a donation you will receive a clear message stating that matched funding for that day has run out.
What payment methods are accepted?
Donations must be made online via credit or debit card. The following cards are accepted:
MasterCard / Visa / Maestro / Switch / Solo / Delta / American Express.
Will I be able to claim gift aid on the donation?
A Gift Aid option will be included on the online donation form. Gift aid is reclaimed by Charities Trust (registered charity no: 2142757) on behalf of the charities.
Matched funding will be allocated based on the amount donated before Gift Aid is added.
What charges are involved?
Charities Trust, the donation management agency used by The Big Give, charges 4% of the total gift (including Gift Aid if applicable). This covers all bank and card processing charges and is deducted before monies are passed to the charity.
The 4% charge will be applied after the donation has been doubled and only applies to your original donation and not the matched amount. For example, if a supporter donates £100, their donation will be matched and then the charge will be applied meaning your charity receive £196 in total.
