WJR supports a range of welfare programmes in Ukraine all provided with the intention of providing a support system for elderly people with little or no hope of providing for themselves.
Rwanda is still suffering the after-affects of the Genocide, 15 years on. Former street-living children are supported to attend schools. Those who feely the are too old to begin their education are provided with vocational training opportunities. These children and youth, who, for many years saw no hope in their futures, are earning their own money and supporting themselves (and often thier families). Previously reviled as nothing more than a blight, today they hold their heads high as valued members of their communities.
WJR is currently building a Jewish Community Centre in Kharkov to ensure our assistance reaches more people in a more effective way.
