Mothers' Union
Mission Statement
Mothers’ Union is a unique community of 3.6 million members, across 78 countries of the world, seeking to live out their Christian faith through prayer and action by making a difference in their communities.
Parenting programmes, literacy circles, AIDS orphanages, prison parent-and-child centres, emergency disaster aid – our work is diverse and very much grassroots. But it’s all motivated by our central focus: supporting family life, parents, marriage and child welfare. Often this involves fighting poverty and its causes, through micro-enterprise projects, community development, or health education; as well as campaigning for social justice issues at an international level. We’re people of all ages and walks of life, single or married, male or female – Mother’s Union is all about people who care.
The unique capacity to work intimately at local level, with an inside understanding of local languages and indigenous cultures, is one of the great strengths of Mothers' Union and gives an inimitable vitality to our work. We don’t send aid workers out from ‘developed’ countries – we support local people, across continents, languages and cultures, offering Christian care to their families, neighbours, communities and governments.
