Cornwall Community Foundation
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to build stronger communities by encouraging local giving. We use our expert local knowledge and our strong networks with partner organisations to bridge the gap between donors and the communities close to their hearts.
The Cornwall Community Foundation was inaugurated in June 2003. It was established by the Lord Lieutenant and fellow founding trustees because they realised that the Community Foundation model fitted perfectly in with Cornwall’s localised needs and long history of community action.
Community Foundations started in the US about 100 years ago, and there are now over 60 in the UK. All CFs are members of the Community Foundation Network through which we enjoy mutual support and shared ideas with other CFs.
The Cornwall Community Foundation is well known within the not for profit sector in Cornwall and often partners other charities in campaigns.
We take care that our work complements statutory funding, and does not compete with it. We are cause neutral – our only aim is to distribute as much funds to as many worthy causes as effectively as possible.
The community foundation model is a perfect vehicle for modern philanthropy. There has been an international sea change towards intelligent, business-like giving and we can satisfy the demands of any donor wishing to ensure that their gift is professionally managed at all stages . It is our purpose to ensure that our clients’ investments realise the best return.
