The Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) unites many of the UK's leading independent humanitarian agencies in their efforts to maximise income from the public in order to mount effective response to humanitarian crises overseas.
In the event of a major emergency overseas, the DEC launches and co-ordinates a high-profile national Appeal for public donations on behalf of the Member agencies. Each DEC Appeal delivers clear, consistent messages to the general public, achieves maximum publicity and most importantly provides a simple, convenient and cost-effective way for the general public to make donations to support poor people in crisis.
