Shakespeare Schools Festival

Mission Statement

The Shakespeare Schools Festival (SSF) is a unique arts-education charity which offers young people, from a diverse collection of backgrounds, the opportunity and support to perform abridged productions of Shakespeare's most famous plays in their local professional theatre.

The Festival introduces young people to the excitement and discipline of live theatre. Through workshops and performance it enables them to appreciate the genius of Shakespeare, to aim high and to take pride in their achievements.

Since 2000, 90,000 young people from 4,248 schools have presented the Festival in 225 professional theatres. Many thousands more have enjoyed it.

Support the Shakespeare Schools Festival and enable more young people to access the arts through live, professional theatre. As a registered charity, SSF relies heavily on the goodwill of private donors to continue its work with young people.
