Children's Hospice South West
Mission Statement
Little Bridge House, our hospice in North Devon, offers respite, relaxation and a sense of community. From 24 house palliative and terminal care to bereavement support, we provide a range of specialist support services.
A big part of our work is creating a home from home, where mums, dads, brothers and sisters can find time and space to feel normal and to do things that they enjoy without the burden of caring.
In order to help more children and more families, we opened a new hospice in April this year. Charlton Farm, near Bristol, will feature comfy rooms, a Jacuzzi, a multi-sensory room and lots of play activities.
We are the only organisation in the South West providing hospice care for children with life limiting conditions and their families.
Life-limiting means the child is unlikely to reach adulthood. There are over 1,000 such children in the South West which means 1,000 different families struggling to deal with the unique challenges of coping with a child who has a life-limiting condition.
Our research has shown that support services here in the South West are poorly developed. We are working hard to ensure that we extend our care and support to more families across the region.
At Children’s Hospice South West we have one simple goal: to make the most of short and precious lives. The care we have to provide can be expensive and with little Government funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of people in the South West. Sadly, the need for hospice care will never disappear but with your help we can be there all of the time.
