The Salvation Army Haven Community Project-Portsmouth
Mission Statement
The Haven Community Project is located in one of the most deprived wards in the Country. The centre is one of the Salvation Army's flagship programmes providing a wealth of practical help and support to the local community. The project has recently been awarded the ‘Queens Award for Voluntary Service’ giving a clear indication of the bredth and quality of the services provided by its staff and volunteers.
Programmes include a Good Neighbours befriending service for over 200 housebound older people, a Furniture Project providing free basic furniture to 150 homeless families a year when they move on from temporary bed and breakfast accomodation, a 56 place Neighbourhood Nursery, Community Cafe, clubs for older people and many other services.
