FORENSIC THERAPIES (Formerly Counselling in Prison)
Mission Statement
Forensic Therapies exists to provide formal, professional generic counselling and psychotherapy to people in custody suffering mental distress, psychological pain and who are vulnerable to harming themselves. The agency attempts to reduce incidents of self-harm and suicidal ideation and work towards improved mental health by alleviating despair and distress. It aims to reduce reoffending by conucting offence focused work and assisting its users in making positive life changes and decisions.
Our values are founded in the recognition of the need for evidence based practice, we therefore aim to assess our work in terms of; quality, clinical effectiveness and valur for money. We believe we cannot face the challenge of our work alone and therefore vaule and seek opportunities for partnership working. FT upholds the belief in inherent human value and seeks to restore dignity, healing and respect for the individual and the wider community. We therefore seek to provide volunteering opportuntities as a practical expression or our concerns for the human condition. All of our clinical practitioners are qualified volunteer counsellors and psychotherapists. We provide 1:1 sessions, and specialist services including a PTSD Treatment Programme, a LIfe Coaching Programme and Treatment for offenders with Perosnality Disorder. We are also pioneering a unique Therapeutic restorative Justice Programme
