2010 Christmas Challenge

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2010 is our biggest ever challenge, aiming to raise £20m for hundreds of charities across a number of sectors. Keep reading to learn how your charity can benefit.

How the Challenge works

Stage 1: Completing your Charity Matching Fund

Each participating charity creates their own Charity Matching Fund by asking their trustees and major donors to pledge to match online public donations.

Initial public donations in December are doubled by this fund. Charities that complete their fund – by receiving the same amount in public donations as is pledged in their Charity Matching Fund – are then able to compete for the additional Sector Challenge Fund.

Stage 2: Competing for the Sector Challenge Fund

The Sector Challenge Fund doubles further public donations on a first come first served basis, until the Challenge Fund is exhausted.

The maximum a charity can receive from the Sector Challenge Fund is equal to the amount pledged in their Charity Matching Fund.
